4 Simple Steps to Batch Create Content

Small business owners know the power of social media. We’ve all seen the stories of companies selling out overnight, exploding their business growth with what seems like overnight success. What you don’t see is all the time, effort, and strategy that goes into creating marketing that produces such shocking and impactful results.

Some people think that constant social media creation is the answer to results like this. But constant social media creation can be a total drain, and endlessly creating can lead to creative burnout for small business owners stretched too thin.

There’s a better way. It’s called batch creating, and it’ll save you time, energy and your sanity.

Batch creating is setting aside one time period to create all of your content. Some people do this weekly, but that’s still a lot of continuous work. I like to batch create once a month, creating one month of content at a time. This means the rest of the month, I’m free to work on other aspects of my business, or simply enjoy a little more downtime.

Let’s get into how you can batch create your content for your business:

Use a content calendar

The first step to batch creating your content is to create a content calendar. This allows you to easily view your yearly marketing dates, and then plan out your month-to-month content in more detail.

It allows for super easy editing and ensures you are creating balanced content that will speak to everyone in your audience.

Content pillars & content types

Be sure to use content pillars and the three different content types in your content calendar when you are batch creating content.

Content pillars provide themes and topics, while the content types (outreach, nurture, and convert) ensure your creating content for potential customers at different points in their relationship with your business. You’ll never be stuck for ideas and can create a variety of helpful content for your audience.

Use graphic templates

It’s important to have a feed that feels on-brand and fairly cohesive. Create templates that you can replicate and tweak each month with your brand colours and typography using Canva.

Their free account offers a lot of options and their Pro membership unlocks basically everything you’ll never need for social media content.

Set aside the time

Choose a time you usually feel productive, and push all other tasks at this time. Grab your content calendar, if you’re using my fill-in-the-blanks social caption templates, copy and paste your chosen captions, into a master word doc.

Then head to Canva, create all of your graphics or reels. Then all that’s left is to schedule out your content! You can use the Meta Business Suite or one of the various paid services to schedule out your social media.

It’s that simple! Batch creating your content requires a little organization up front, but it more than pays off when you can create a month of content in 1-2 days.
